hisexperiencesintheVietnamWarbecauseitisawayofcopingwithwhathappenedaswellas
takingthisapproachasasortoftherapy.Inthisspecificpartofthetexttheauthorlayshimself
rawandexposedtotheworkingsofhismemory.Ibelievethisisanexampleofpostwar
behaviorandpsychologicalfunctions.
Throughoutthebook,wegetasenseofhowtheVietnamWarhasimpactedTim
OBrienslifeandmind.Weknowthatthebookshewritesareinfluencedbyhisexperiences
althoughtheyarefiction,wegettoreadabouthisthoughtsandseehismindunfold.Wegetto
