In the first paragraph, you want to tell them a bit about you, your life experie
nces. Tell them about your compassion (which you clearly have due to your previo
us jobs). Talk a little about how you love people, since you will have contact w
ith them in a vet's office, as well. Close the paragraph by describing your love
for animals and how that love has grown into your goal of wanting to get some e
xperience in their office.
So, something like this:
Dear Doctors:
My name is _____ ______. I am interested in the possibility of gaining valuable
volunteer experience in your office. I have worked as both a dental and nursing
assistant; these positions allowed me the wonderful opportunity to work with peo
ple. I love being around people of all ages, and would welcome the chance to int
eract with you, your great staff, and the many families who entrust you with the
ir pets' care. I have always loved being around animals and would be thrilled to
have the chance to volunteer my time for the pets who visit your office everyda
y.
******The next paragraph should talk about your desire to get this experience, m
aybe like:
I have not had the opportunity to work with animals, but I am eager to learn abo
ut their needs and the care that they each require. I would love to discover the
many aspects involved in your veterinary office. It would be a privilege to see
how the animals are cared for, as I learn about their unique characteristics.
I am available to come in for an interview________. I would appreciate the oppor
tunity to meet with you and your staff! I am familiar with your office and have
heard great things about it! (If there is anything specific you know, stick it i
n here).
