This Paper is going to introduce and tell you the purpose of my project topic. My project
topic is types of Pediatric therapy, I will go more in depth on how I choice my project topic and I
plan to accomplish it.
I am Maria Calvo and I am an ISM (Independent Study Mentorship) student. I chose my
ISM mentor because she was telling me about her career and I became more interested in what
she does. She is a Physical Therapist; she helped me lean towards my project topic. My project
topic is Types of Pediatric therapy. I chose this because I want to be a NICU nurse; so I want to
focus on Pedi. My mentor works with more pediatric Pt. then adult Pt. so this is how I came to
pick my topic.
My ISM project will based on topic mentioned above (types of pediatric therapy). I will
research some causes of why Pedi would need therapy and focus on about causes (diagnosis) and
look up the type of therapy that is needed. I will then gather some statistical information of one
of the causes that I look up and see the percentage of how many Pedi have the diagnosis. I will
also look up some pieces of equipment used in Pedi therapy and get pictures. I also want to come
up with a case study along with a demonstration of some exercises done in Pedi therapy.
My product will be my case study and the demonstration of some Pedi therapy. I hope
that people will learn that Pedi physical therapy is not a joke it is hard work, I also want them to
learn that it is better for Pedi to get therapy as soon as possible because the can learn things a lot
faster in their first years of life.
