From listening to Mr. Shelton Williams interview, I found it interesting how he described
the segregation during his teaching period as typical with the typical negative effects. He
was unable to imagine how J.C. Price School might have been affected at the end of segregation
because his employment there had ended before then. He did not discuss in much detail the
different aspects of segregation that impacted his community.
I believe the oral history was conducted quite well and the interviewers did a good job of
asking Mr. Williams about his personal impact at the school such as the school song he wrote. I
found the questions to be very insightful and covered important topics for the oral history. For
some questions Mr. Williams did not have an answer so the interviewers could have possibly
figured out a way to reword their questions that made more sense to him or that would have
initiated further conversation on a similar subject.
