    Culture and History: Fahrenheit 451 Book Discussion (Muncie Big Read Event)
    Read the book (Fahrenheit 451), see the movie, and join us in an exhilarating and thought-provoking
    discussion, within the context of culture and history. You will have a chance to win a free book.

    Fahrenheit 451 was published in 1953. This was the year that the Korean War ended. World War II

    had ended less than a decade before. In 1954 Voice of America began broadcasting jazz music around
    the world. The book discussion will address the storylines link to trends in politics, music, literature,
    and technology.
    Facilitator: Maude Jennings, Former English Professor Emerita , Ball State
    University, Member, High Street Methodist Church Whitely Community
    Council, Volunteer, BY5 and Edible Muncie, and Community Activist.
    F.U.N. (Folks Uniting Nowadays) originated with Fort Wayne, Indiana Study
    Circles Alumni in 2001. The focus is informal social gatherings of interracial
    participants, focusing on friendship and increased cultural awareness and
    understanding. Events are held in Fort Wayne and Muncie, IN.
