We will be attending the Latino Legislative Summit hosted by the Texas Senate Hispanic Caucus
and the Mexican American Legislative Caucus in the House of Representatives. It will be held at
the Texas Capitol in the Auditorium, Room E1.004, directly across from the Cafeteria.
There will be discussion on Education, Housing, Economics, Immigration, Health and other
issues that directly impact our quality of life in Texas and in our communities. Your input will be
considered for shaping statewide and local policies and legislation. Representatives and
members from all coalition partner organizations including MALDEF, HOPE, LULAC,
TAMACC, IDRA, GI FORUM and other organizations will be present. This event is free.
In addition, there will be a Welcoming Reception held tonight, Friday October 9, at the historic
Driskoll Hotel, 604 Brazos, Austin, Texas 78701, from 8 until 10pm. There is no charge for
attending.

Raza Roundtable will be meeting on Saturday at 10:am. Lic. Gary Cobb, Candidate for Travis
County District Attorney will come by. Also as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Dr Emilio
Zamora will discuss Tejano History. We invite our members and guests to bring pictures and
stories of your Familias Heritage. We all have a tale or two to tell about our abuelitos, our tos,
our primos and la familia. Bring your tales from the Barrio to share and celebrate our hertage
