Ambient Intelligence

Q1. What does Ambient Intelligence mean.
I believe that Ambient Intelligence means the integration of the technological world with ours not just
through the environment that we interact with, but on a more personal level, when we interact with
technology, we ideally want our technology to be responsive not just in its use, but on a much deeper
level, our human understanding of our environment, in order for robots to have this deeper
understanding it needs a better understanding of the environment we use it with.
Q2. What kinds of influence; good things, and bad ones, may robots give in our soceity?
Good things: Anything from basic assistive technologies (such as smartphones to assist in
communication) to simple devices controlled by sensors (such as an Air Conditioner activated by
ambient room temperature) to more advanced applications, such as the replacement of limbs with
prosthetic parts and navigation (such as a self-navigating car).
Bad Things: Obviously they can be used for more conflict applications, warmachines, unauthorized
surveillance and invasion of privacy.
