It-covers all the wires in the category which use the diameters of individual wires, coating included, ranging from 1.25 mm to 5.50 mm The use of two types of steel is foreseen for meeting with the requirement of conductors : normal steel and stee! of high resistance. ‘Two types of coatings are considered following the minimum zine mass per unit of surface : Class E (thick) identical to the Class | CEI 888, and Class S (semi-thick).. 2.CHARACTERISTICS OF ZINC COATED STEEL WIRES 2.1 Material ‘The steel wires should have the following specific properties : The zinc plates should contain at least 99.85% of zinc. The coating of the wires should be done when warm. It can be applied before oF after winding, as decided by the supplier and the buyer. Table 1 gives the minimal mass of coating for zine for each class/category whatever the procedure ; ‘Tin the case of zine coating before winding Zin the case of zine coating after winding, : C3413, PREFACE ‘The present norm is a revision of the NF C 34- 125 of September 1976, IL takes into account the ‘work carried out by the Study Committed number 7 of the International Electronic Commission and specially the Publication number 888, However, it contains some additions to the international publications ; = Itspecifies a verification of the continuity of covering stee! wires by an immersion trial, as well as with a specific type of zine in the case of high resistant stee! wires = It recommends the preferred diameters corresponding to the present wires of conductors used in France since the publication of this norm ‘The national norms of European countries was used in the project group BTTE 67 ~ 3 of CENELEC , the present counterpart of the norm has not been given ‘The present norm is published for trial period of 2 years , at the end of which , the competent commission will examine the possibility of adopting this procedure taking into account the results of CENELEC. ‘The present norm was adopted by the Managing Committee of the Technical Union of Electricity ‘on 2" September 1992, ‘The surface of zine should be smooth & not contain any dents, stains or joints ‘Nominal diameter and tolerance on diameter The standard values of nominal diameter of zine coated wires is not fixed. Nevertheless, this standard indicates some preferred values expressed in millimetres 1,68~ 2.00 ~2.25 2.40 ~ 2.50 ~2.65 ~ 2.80 ~ 3.15 Table 2 & 3 indicate the limit of diameter with reference to nomimal diameter Cc 6. 34-113, Table 2 Mechanical specifications of zine coated steel wires ~ Class E Nominal diameter of wire | Tolerance! The authorised methods of welding are electric & welding from one end to another by Joule effect or by spark welding. ‘The wires on which the welding is carried out by the above mentioned procedures should have resistance to traction at least equal to 80% of that obtained on the wires without welding. No welding can be carried out om stel wires afte the last winding operation 3 Tests 3.1 Classification of tests ‘The tests are classified as follows = Qualification tests carried out on the model at the beginning of the series conforming to the specifications of paragraph 3.2 = Tests of series recommended in the context of the procedure for quality assurance, conforming to specifications of paragraph 3.3 + Tests of acceptance carried out in the context of procedure for receiving at the time of delivery of wires conforming to the specifications of paragraph 3.4 Table 4 gives the lists of tests to be conducted Ss 34-113 Table 4 Enumeration of tests to be carried out Tests Qualifjing Procedure of Referent Tests Receiving ‘Verification of external aspect X X 320 Verification of diameter x x $3.22 Verification of constraint at 1% elongation X x $323 NFEN 10002-1 Verification of resistance to traction x x 3.24 FEN 10002-1 Verification of ductibility x x §325 ‘NF EN 1002-1 NF A 03-707 150 7802 ication of zine mass x x $3.26 NFAQI-I31 Verification of adherence to zine x x $3.27 Verification of continuity of coating x x §3.28 NFA9I-I3L 3.2.1 Verification of extemal aspect ‘The surface of the wire should conform to the specifications of paragraph 2.6 after examination by normal eye or correction. 22.
