School Magazine Front Cover Analysis

Jonathan Maxfield

The school motto at

the bottom stands
out because white
and purple colours
contrast giving the
effect a bold.

The font of the

school is very
sophisticated this is
because the writing
is joined up. This to
make the school look
mature and smart.

A very sophisticated
colour scheme using
contrasting colours allows
the text to be read easily.

2 of the 3 pictures on the front

cover are pupils learning This is
effective because it promotes
the ethos of school excellence
for all which is recognised by
the education these students are
being provided.

A picture of Princess
Anne is in the
picture which
suggests that the
private school is for
posh people or
people of a high
social class.
The school logo is very
traditional it seems very
old this is because it
isnt very modern. This
helps to fit the
generalisation of royalty
associated with the
school.

The basic but yet sophisticated look of

the front page makes the school look
very professional. The colour scheme
and layout of the pictures looks very
smart but yet simple which is great
because the school is a primary school
but is for smart people.
The front page under the
school name it says
Melrose. Now, Melrose is a
place just off of the
Scottish Borders which is
known for its population of
high class people.

House colours are used;

White and Green are the
colour of the uniform of
what the students have to
wear so the colour scheme
fits the theme of not just
the magazine but the school.

The picture that the girl is

painting is very bright and
is made the focal point of
this front cover, again to
show that the pupils are
talented.

This image on this school

presents the school as a school
of arts however this is done
deliberately so show that the
school is a place of many talents.

The date of the magazine says

Fall 2009 which suggests that
only 4 copies of this magazine
come out per year. Giving the
impression that the magazine is
special but also crammed full of
useful information such as;
Dates of events, days off,
charity days etc.
