Falloatboyl2How to Set Up The Game
1. Print all cards and rales oat op healy, glossy paper.
2. Kfter all pieces have been yeatly cat apart, how you choose to protect them depends “po
your tastes, Lamination is the best choice, at least with the room cards, which you may then wish
to mount op foamboard for added rigidity (suggestion: gite Basement rooms one layer of
foamboard, First Floor rooms two layers, and Second Floor rooms three layers).
3. For the various cards, adhering them to any loose cards you may have lying aboat (playing
cards, trading cards, ete) will give them strength, and if you then slip them into protective trading
card sleeves they will be mach more darable (choose the kind of sleeves that hale solid colors on
the back to make the different cards easily identifiable).
4 Te tokens cap simply be laminated and Used as they are.
5, Ready now? let's begin,
How to Play the Game
Choose a game style that suits your needs (Yes, there are several options!):
Game A: Basic Mysterious Mansion, in which each player ases only one character
apd follows the game rales without incorporating Horrorclix rales (remove Victim
Cie Cards prior to beginning). This game version is ideal for small children.
Game B: Norrorelix Version, ip which both game mechanics are Followed.
Game CG Horrors!!! This version happily borrows from the wonderfal Zombies!
game by Twilight Creations Inc. Opponents begin inside randomly-drawy rooms, set
about 3 room widths apart from one another. As game play progresses, the
unfolding mansion will eventually connect. Only when the foyer is found and played
cap anyone attempt to escape with a treasure. How to Play (Continued)
Card Placement?
Shaffle all cards in their respective decks (Room deck, Search deck, Clue deck,
TFeasure deck). Deat 5 Search Cards to each player.
How Many Rlapers?
low many do you want? That's up to you.
Where to Begin?
Ku players begin in the Foyer. If playing by Horrorclix rales, no combat cay begin
anti the characters involved in the fight have exited the foyer. Fighting may occar ip
the foyer Gpon retary trips. IF there are too many figures to fit inside the foyer, have
Some just wait on the doorstep antil they cap enter the fray.
I playing. by Game Version 3 rales, each player draws a Room card and sets this
3 room-widths apart from the opponent's room.
Movement?
If playing Game Version 1 (Kiddie Game), simply roll a die to determine how many
Spaces characters cay move.
I playing Horrorelix-style, go with the movement values of each character.
Doors?
Ip order to pass through doorways into adjoining rooms or closets, a 1d6 must be
colled. Even numbers (2,46) mean the door is open. Qdd numbers (13,5) mean the
door is locked. When a door is found to be locked, a character cannot enter that room
through that door daring that tarp, and the die roll counts as I movement. How to Play (Continaed)
Room Building?
Simple. When You reach a doorway to nowhere and the die rol! show the door is open,
draw a Room card. If it cay connect to that location, great. Otherwise, you mast
coppect it to another existing Room. If (and only if) a room cannot be added, it mast
be placed face-up on the table and added by either opponent the instant an opportunity
happens.
Tre rules of the Rooms are:
L Rooms cay only connect if all doorways on adjacent sides line ap.
2. Rooms can only connect to other Rooms on the same floor or one floor up or
down. Ip other words, Basement and Second Floor Rooms can never connect to each
other.
Searching?
Players may ase 1 Search Card per tary. Search Cards tet you search in, on, and
Under objects in order to find Coes, Each time you search ap object shown on your
Search Card (and objects in the Rooms may appear differently than op the Search
Cards- all players mast agree on matches if one is contested), discard the Search Card
and draw another. Only one object on a card can be searched per use. Also, draw
a Cue Card,
Clues?
‘Some Clue Cards cay be kept in your hand Gntil you find a good time to ase them,
Others require you to immediately ase them. If you draw a Clue Card with a key or a
chest, place that card face-up on the table for all to see and add the respective token to
your character’s location. The token moves with the character from now op anti ased or
stolen. IF you draw a Secret Passage Clue Card, place an appropriate token in that
spot, and then place a matching token anywhere on the map you choose. A cobweb
means nothing was found. A Victim Marking indicates you found a Victim (what you
do with that poor soa! is ap to youl),hos ot Cec How to Play (Continued)
eys and Chests?
Only when you find a key that matches a treasure chest can you attempt to escape
with it and open it. Once You find a chest, place that token in the room and leave
it there Gptil you or another player locates the matching key, at which time the chest
cay be moved by the owner of the right key. Once you find the right set, get that
chest odtside (beyond the Foyer) as fast as you cap. When you are oat of the
mansion, open the chest by drawing one of the Treasure Cards. Find the winning
chest and yo pot only defeat Your opponent and end the game, bat you pick up an
additional 100 Victory Roints (if playing Horrorclix-style)!
Secret Passages?
Once discovered, secret passages act just like regular doorways For players. AL die
roll mast be ased to see if it is open or locked, and travelling through a passage
counts as a character's entire movement, regardless how pear or far the distance is
between the connected rooms. Note: DO secret passages are allowed to be placed
within the Foyer, and sorry, po treasure chests cay be carried through secret
passages.
Stealing Ayother Rlayer’s Treasure?
Some Cae Cards allow You to snatch someone else's treasure chest once they have
found a key to dplock it, Te do so, You must enter the same room as that character
and play the card. Now Your character claims the chest, as well as the appropriate
Cards (Key and Chest). No one cap take it from You withoat going through the same
process with the same kind of Clue Card.
Unless your character gets killed if playing Horrorelix-style,
Killed?
When a character gets killed, it relinquishes control of any key or chest it may be
carrying, Anyone else can claim such things by walking over and grabbing, them,How to Pay (Continued)
ow Do You Win?
Find the Treasure and end the game.
Or if Playing Horrorclix-style- kill all of your opponents’ characters, which pretty
moch decides that eventually you'd locate the Treasdre.
Ropthing. Lise?
Heroclix was mentioned earlier, because there really is no reason this couldn't be
played as a porely Heroclix game (just remove the Victim Cards from play).
Riso, a fourth Variation of game play cap involve setting Gp the mansion in
advance by strategically mapping the entire layout together and then playing with the
fally-assembled mansion in any way desired,
On that note, perhaps a fifth Variation could just be making a puzzle of the Room
Cards and working to create @ complete map as in Variation Four above.
Expansion Racks?

Cards and Que Cards!
