Clinical Observation on Therapeutic Effects of Guzhizaisheng Wan for

Treatment of Aseptic Necrosis of the Head of the Femur
Wang Luli
This interesting article unfortunately does not include the full ingredients of Guzhizaisheng
Wan, simply mentioning that its main ingredients are Dong Chong Xia Cao (Cordyceps
Sinensis) and Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis). This large study involved 1286 cases with
a disease duration of between 4 months and 15 years. Patients were treated for between 3 and
24 months and asked to do light exercise. Results indicate a markedly effective rate of 49.7%,
with better results achieved in milder cases. There was clear demonstration of repair of the
femoral head, especially in younger patients, but even some structural improvement in severe
cases where the femoral head was collapsed.
