Dear Mrs. Jankowski,

For my senior service learning project, I will be helping out at the Warrick County Humane
Society. Some of the jobs that I will be doing here are, cleaning kennels, bathing animals, or
volunteering at adoption festivals. I am very excited to be volunteering here because I love
working with animals and am thinking about becoming a vet. I start working here on September
15th. Im not sure which days I will be working yet, but they will most likely be on Tuesdays.
The Warrick County Humane Society opened up in 1983 and also opened its No Kill Shelter on
Vann Road in 1997. Their mission is to find homes for the homeless and neglected animals. They
are a help to the community because they rescue stray animals and animals that are living in a
bad environment. They help the animals find new homes where they will get the love they never
had.
My Mentors name is Laurie Byers. She works at the Humane Society. My mom has a friend
named Julie that she works with and Julie knows Laurie very well. So, Julie gave Laurie a call
and told her that I have to do a senior project and that it would be a great opportunity to do it
here since I love animals.

Since I possibly want to be a vet, I hope I learn a lot about these animals. Im so glad I got the
opportunity to work with these animals and bond with them. I hope by working here at the
humane society that I will begin to love becoming a vet even more.
Sincerely,

Devin Austin
