The role of the environment can never be underestimated. When
constructed well, learning environments have the power to nourish,
support and promote learning; uniting teachers and children in the
process of constructing understandings and tpn seenostaorg
sharing meaning.
8] ECET (North) invites passionate early childhood
educators to a workshop of inspiration and learning with Fiona Zinn, an
>| educational consultant based in Hobart. In this session, Fiona will unpack some
of the features of positive learning environments and share examples from her
extensive experiences in Early Childhood and Primary Education settings both
in Australia and the UK. Fiona is a national elected committee member of the
|| Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange (REAIE). She has been a Director of
Early Learning, a Head of Teaching and Learning and a PYP Coordinator in
Melbourne. She is currently a lecturer at the University of Melbourne Graduate
School of Education and a PYP trainer/workshop leader with the International
Baccalaureate throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Participants will understand how learning environments can:
promote the values of the service/school/setting
act as the 'third teacher’
invite inquiry, learning and discovery
support children's interests and unique learning
styles
build relationships and community
promote wellbeing, learning and success
