Justification

The sequence of lessons and activities above are a part of a unit or work
developed on space and the moon. Within the activities are a range of
opportunities for students to further their understanding of the moon and space
using student direction and heavily focused on student self-regulation and higher
order thinking, (NSW Department of Education and Training. (2008).
Students are working towards meeting the outcomes in the NSW English and
Geography syllabuses (New South Wales Board of Studies (2010). in order to
complete the assessment through incorporating multimodality into the learning
process and key assessment focus.
Multimodality (Street, B. (2012, March), is focused on throughout the learning
process and experiences as students are using computers and iPads to complete
their activities. This was developed as students are expected to engage
themselves in the learning, I did this as students are able to meet a range of
outcomes at the same time with cross KLAs.
Whilst developing my website and activities I was ensuring that the needs of all
students were addressed and that the outcomes very modified to ensure that
students with diagnosed disabilities are catered for and in reach of achieving
them. The reason behind modifying the outcomes was to incorporate an
achievable goal for those students that need it.
The use of voice recording was used throughout the website and activities as
students have not experienced many voice overs, due to this I decided to do
something new that incorporates a new range of skills for students to learn
rather than having to read a set of questions and interpret the meaning.
In conclusion, students are experiencing a new set of skills that they will use in
their everyday lives after school. Students will develop not just an understanding
of the moon and space but also a range of skills that relate to multimodality.
