A Moral Question

For many people insurance is a primordial thing that they usually have as a consequence,
they are certain that they can visit the doctor many times if they need it to avoid serious health
problems. However, in this country, in many cases people avoid having to go to hospital if they
dont have insurance and not have enough money to cover doctors and drugs. In Nikki Whites
case self-help and equality changed her view of life when she fought to be alive.
First of all, Nikki White was a young woman who had systemic lupus, she was a citizen
of the worlds richest country, United States of America the problem was that she couldnt get
health insurance because for the government she had too much money to get insurance in fact
she didnt have enough money to pay for her treatment. Sadly she died when she was thirty-three
years old.
Second, Ms. White death could be explained by two American values. Self-help means
giving respect for self-achievements in this manner, she wrote too many letters pleading for help
but she couldnt survive. In a positive way she tried to find help, she never gave up. However, in
this case Nikki couldnt find the help in time because she didnt have enough time to wait for
help from somebody who pitied her situation in fact she died with hope in the people. Another

American value is equality this means that people have equal opportunities, the people are
important as individual no matter where they come from, in the case of Nikki does not apply in
positive way because she didnt get an equal treatment from insurances person because for them
she had too much money to qualify for health care under welfare it was contradictory because
she hadnt enough money for pay by herself expensive doctors and medicines to be alive.
Finally, is upsetting to know about this case. If she was dying by lupus, just because she
have had money for her daily use did not mean that she was a rich woman who had enough
money to pay for a complete treatment. If she was pleading for help, it was because she really
needed it
In conclusion, whether Americans enforce their values so they do not equally for all. If
people put themselves anothers shoes one moment and try to understand the situation, perhaps
we can live in a more equitable society.
