ThermalStresssteps
First,conductaheat_transfer(HT)analysisandbesuretoknowwhereyouroutputfileisstored.Giveitadescriptive
nameandnotethelocationwhereitissaved.
Next,copythemodelfiletoanewmodel,andgiveitanewname.Openthenewmodelfile.Deletethestepusedfor
creationofheattransferanalysis.Nowopentheinitialstep,anddoubleclickonPredefinedFields

Intheexamplefigureabove,theentiremodelwasgivenareferencetemperatureof25Ctobeusedinconjunction
withthetemperaturegradient(fromHeatTransferAnalysis)todeterminethethermalstress/strainmagnitudes.

outputdatabasefileandselectthefilenameyouhadcreatedfortheheattransferoutput.SetBeginStepandBegin
incrementto1.

Finally,proceedtocreatingthestaticanalysisBoundaryconditions,changethemeshtotheelementtypeforstress
analysisandcreateajobforthisstep.Submitthejob.
Notethatiftheobjectiveweretofindthecoolingeffectasaresultofstartingattheelevatedtemperaturedistribution
andthencoolingtotheroomtemperature(25),thentheinitialpredefinedfieldwillbebasedontheHTanalysisand
thefinalpredefinedfieldwillbeconstant25.Inotherwords,predefineddefinitionsdistributionwillbereversed!
