(PHI) and Exelon. Covenant House Washington is the largest and leading ‘nonprofit organization responding to the needs of homeless, disconnected and exploited young people in the Greater Washington Region and is the regional affiliate of Covenant House International, the nation’s largest ‘nonprofit responding to those needs. Our purpose is to protect young people who are homeless, housing insecure, and those escaping dangerous living situations by increasing their housing, education and career readiness opportunities through beneficial support services. Last year alone, Covenant House Washington served over 1,000 young people, including having provided housing to more than 400 homeless youth; served nearly 54,000 meals to hungry young people; and successfully helped 30% ofall 18-24 year olds who earned a GED in DC to do so. Additionally, we have a Gold-tiered nationally accredited Child Development Center onsite. Over the years, Pepco has been a ‘committed supporter of our efforts, and the efforts of many other nonprofits making a difference in the Region. We value our relationship with Pepco, and believe in the importance of developing sustainable community partnerships that advance the common good. As the merger of Pepeo, its parent company Pepco Holdings, Inc. and Exelon moves forward, we are pleased to learn that Exelon wit! sustain and build on Pepco’s commitment to community engagement, a diverse workforce, and strict policies on energy and the environment. Potentially through this merger, the Region will benefit from a growing workforce, smarter grid technology, environmental stewardship and enhanced corporate citizenship that partner with organizations like Covenant House Washington to better impact the citizens of Greater Washington, We look forward to continuing our work together!
