WARM COMPONENT

In Casting Process, gating system plays an important role

to produce a high quality casting. A poorly designed gating
system results in casting defects. The main function of
gating system is to lead clean molten metal from ladle to the
casting cavity ensuring smooth, uniform and complete filling.
A riser, also known as a feeder,is a reservoir built into
a metal casting mold to prevent cavities due to shrinkage.
Most metals are less dense as a liquid than as a solid so
castings shrink upon cooling, which can leave a void at the
last point to solidify. Risers prevent this by providing molten
metal to the casting as it solidifies.So,it becomes important
to design a proper Gating and risering system for metal
Castings.

RESULT
During our IDP project For 7th semester, We were
Allocated Two Components For designing
Optimizing it Gating and Risering System .
We have Completed The Designing of gating
and risering System of Both two Components By
referring The literature Manufacturing

to design the Gating and Riserring System.
By referring the Literature by P.N.Rao we Were
able to design the Riserring and gating
system.By The NRL method Stated in P.N.Rao
book of Manufacturing Technology.

We have been able to increase the Yield Of Both
