Feature Story

Imagine a doctor telling you that your loved one cannot be saved because there are no blood donations. This situation will
become reality if more people do not donate blood.

15 years ago Joey Sykes and his cousin Brent Sykes were cousins that were inseparable. They were close in age, went to the
same school, and had similar taste in music. All of this changed when Brent Sykes was on his way home from basketball
practice and was involved in car accident that resulted in a massive loss of blood.

Thankfully, Brent Sykes received a blood donation from a OneBlood donation center. Joey Sykes used the near death experience of his cousin to become a successful business owner and create a nationwide paint party.

My cousins accident really scared me and I was determined to do something meaningful with my life because it can be
short, said Joey Sykes.

Joey Sykes is the CEO of GlowRage, Americas largest paint party. Before becoming the CEO, Sykes showed his passion by
volunteering hours, days, and weeks of his time at OneBlood. Along with being the CEO, Sykes is an active member in several organizations including The Boys & Girls Club, The American Cancer Society, and The Humane Society.

Im so happy that my organization can give back to OneBlood. They saved my cousins life and Im really grateful for that,
said Joey Sykes.
