MEN OF THE AIR

______________
Cannon Fire rips and tears, cuts and shreds and blasts asunder.
Fills the air with sounds of thunder.
Push and pull, twist and turn, miss the blasts that tear and burn.
Avoiding death by finger tips that rip and shred your wings to bits.
Angels plummet from the sky,
So brave, so bold, to young to die.
Tell me then is it right, that men should die in skys so bright.
They give their lives for a nation, threatened with indoctrination.
So brave, so bold, to young to die.
Oh how sad to see them fly, into a sky so filled with thunder.
That rips and tears and blasts asunder.
MEN OF THE FIELD
________________
Mortare blast, machine gun fire, booby traps, trenches and barbed wire.
Not one falters, noone stops, onward, onward to the top.
Arms and legs, heads and hands, fill the air till noone stands.
Bodies lie torn asunder, by the shells from guns of thunder.
Then another brave brigade make a charge that none should take.
One by one their bodes lie, on a hill that none could break.
Hopeless of it is they lie, sheer stupidity they die.
Then another, then another, Father, cousin, son and brother.
Onward, onward never ending, consigned to death by those whose sending.
Led out brave and mighty men, into a hell that welcomed them.
MEN OF THE SEA
______________
Pity not the men who lie, 'neath the guns by which they die.
Nor the men who scream insane, overwhelmed by untold paid.
On a sea surrounded shell, was once a ship is now a hell.
Nothing worse than this you cry, no harder way a man could die.
Look and see an hour past, onto when she's sinking fast.
A lucky one you say, not him, rather he than I to swim.
Amidst an ocean vast and torrid, no fate is worse, no trial so horrid.
Wretched cold, wind and rain, body numbed by shock and pain.
Pity now this man I cry, struggling as time goes by.
Then sinks beneath the wave to die.
