Occupational Titles Essay
There are many job opportunities in todays industrial world, and all the very well-paying
jobs and careers require some sort of degree. Sure, there are people who dropped out of college
and became entrepreneurs, but those people had plans of their own. Ill be talking about three
different well-paying occupations: historian, and farmer, and about the education and training
required to get these jobs.
The basic rundown of a historians job is this: gathering data from various historical
sources, analyzing and interpreting historical information to verify its authenticity, and most
commonly seen by the public, writing articles and books on findings and theories. All of what
historians do includes doing a lot of research, whether it be for the government, or for
businesses. In order to become one, depending on position, one must acquire either a Masters
Degree or Ph.D. for most positions, including the federal government. Those who acquire a
Bachelors usually study historical preservation, or archival management. Also, people who have
an education in history become high school teachers or postsecondary professors. George
Washington University offers this kind of education and training.
To work in a more dangerous field such as farming requires an Associates or Bachelors
Degree in agribusiness or farm management. Other options include certificates and courses in
specialized areas for working right away. A farmer typically plants fruits and vegetables, and
takes care of them, depending on whether they are conventional or organic farmers. For example,
my dad is an organic farmer, and he took a class specifically dealing with organic produce. Along
the way, he was also taught about farm equipment maintenance. ALBA farms provides this type
of education through their PEPA program, which is the program my dad was taught by. Another
great option for agricultural careers is Hartnell College, which is obvious because Salinas is a
prosperous agricultural city.
To conclude, any education is possible if the right amount of effort is put into whatever
path you may choose. Dropping out of college is not an option. The only exception would be if
you are sure about becoming an entrepreneur, and you dont feel the education you are given is

helpful for your goal or dream. Neither of these occupations is easy to get into, but again, if the
right amount of effort is put into getting the degree you want, you will be set for life.
