Timeline/structure of lesson:
Time
Opening/Framing the Lesson/Introduction/Early Assessment
Lesson introduction and material presentation: The
students have been learning a lot of new things about the
10 min
planets throughout the week this week they are going to
get into 8 or 9 groups depending on if we want to include
Pluto or not. Each group is given a planet and they will
pick a popular (appropriate) song and change the lyrics to
describe their planet. The end goal is for students to
interact with each other and be creative when it comes to
music, and being able to learn something new and catchy
about each planet.

The Lesson Structure: Activities
Each group will get together, discuss what planet they
were assigned, and start brainstorming ideas for their
planet song. Once they pick a song they will use WordItOut
to brainstorm facts and characteristics about their planet.
Once they have their idea all planned out they will use
iPads to record themselves each singing a line from new
and improved song. If needed they can research facts
online.

Closing/Assessment
Students will present the music videos to the class and the
other kids will be taking notes.
Homework
Need to list five facts or characteristics they learned from
each music video

Monitor/Feedback

Extra Credit: Memorize the songs and sing it to me for 10

points extra credit.
Self Evaluation of the Lesson
We will watch all the music videos and discuss and vote whos was the best planet song.
