Procurement & Collection:PROCUREMENT:

In a vast agricultural land of India, with its herbal health and tropical climate,
availability of medicinal plants is in abundance. The pre- requisite for procurement
is knowledge of the plant, identification of its place of growth and knowledge of
seasons, exactly what the tribes possess. Their knowledge and application remains
elementary and instant because of their singular goal of using it as means of
income; whereas ABHUMKA has more than a dual responsibility of procuring,
collecting, storing and selling.
Hence collaboration with the tribals becomes mandatory and maintaining trust
through interaction and regular perks, a must.
Procurement is subject to following factors:
1. Motivation of tribesmen
2. Non -availability of herbal plants in the first visit (probably due to moods,
weather, non-visibility, etc)
3. Perks and remuneration (which have to handled competitively due to other
companies in the market)
4. Quality has to be up to the mark. (any lapse can result in unnecessary
repetition of action and expense)
5. Season, climate and age of sapling is another major factor.
6. Hood winking or instances of duping occur frequently in tribals who realize
their exclusiveness and singularity which result in high handed behavior
sometimes.
