GANTAN REVI 2009 3 Manual CHAPTER2 INTRODUCTION TO MULTIHEAD WEIGHER 2.1 Working Principle Multihead weigher mainly adapts normal distribution and possibility theories. Products are firstly delivered to the infeed funnel by the elevator, through the vibration of the main vibrator, products then are delivered to each linear vibrator. Products are fed from the linear vibrator to the intermediate hopper then into the weigh hopper. Load cell detects the weight inside the weigh hopper and send it to the CPU, through combination, CPU selects the weight combination closest to the target weight. The hoppers that are selected in the combination then will be opened by the step motor. Products then are either dumped into collecting hopper or discharged into packaging machine. Elevator 1. Level sensor Monitors the height of the infeeding material, in Gantan’s advanced systems, Load cell are used instead of the optical sensor. Main vibrator The vibration source of the top cone. \.P (Linear vibrating pan) Through the vibrating of the L.\.P, material is delivered into intermediate hopper Linear vibrator The vibration source for L.V.P. Int te Temporarily stores material from linear feeder, then discharges material to weigh hopper after a preset time delay. GANTAN. REY.1 2009 Weigh hopper The hopper connected with load cell, weigh hopper provides accommodation for material to be weighed. Each weigh hopper holds products while the weight is read by the load cell. The weigh hopper selected into combination will discharge the product, to the collating chutes. Actuator The house for the weighing and driving units. Each actuator unit contains a load cell and two driving motor, The load cell measures the products in weight, and the motor opens and closes the hopper door through discharing. Collating chute and collating funnel The intermediate space for material from weigh hopper sliding into collecting hopper or sealing machine, lect tional Temporarily stores material from weigh hopper, discharges material after receiving the ‘discharge’ request. Collecting hopper is used for gathering up material, can help increase the speed. MIN WGT% (%) U.W HOPPER Minimum weight ratio. If the minimum weight ratio of a weigh hopper is less than this preset value, then such a weigh hopper will be considered under weight. Weight ratio is calculated by dividing the weight reading of a weigh hopper by the target weight The Minimum weight ratio is normally 100% + (number of heads ~ 1) Under weight hopper number. Under weight hopper number is the preset allowed number of hoppers to be under weigh, MULTICOMB STG DUMP (ms) - STAGGER DUMP. Multiply combination. This function is required when the target weight exceeds the single discharge weight, thus a number of dumps are required to achieve the final weight. GANTAN. REV.L2009 This function is required to sequentially discharge the hoppers selected in combination when the product could potentially cause bridge in the collating funnel. Manual MAX OPEN HP NO COMB Maximum open hopper number, The maximum number of hoppers that are allowed to discharge at the same timing in order to prevent blockage of the collating funnel. It is used in conjunction with the staggered dump function FORCE COMB Force combination. If the weigh hopper has not been selected in combination over cycles of this set value, the hopper will be forced into combination for the very next cycle. This function is primarily used for weighing frozen products to prevent products from staying in the hopper for too long. 4.8 Infeed Setting Oo GANTAN REV.12009 No combination intervention. Calibration is completed by the manufacturer, customer is advised to repeat this operation at a two months interval to maintain the working condition at the optimal level. During calibration, only the poise provided by the manufacturer should be used, Enter ‘calibration’ (5-1) interface by selecting ‘CALIB.’ from the main menu. Note: Please ensure that no residual material is left in the weigh hopper. If necessary, use the empty function in ‘zeroing’ (3-1-3). Please follow the procedure below: 1. Select the Load cell to be calibrated 2. Place the poise of 500g onto the weigh hopper, when the displayed weight is stable, press FULL 3. Dismount the poise, the displayed weight will become zero, when is displayed value is stable, press Zero. Repeat the same procedure again for all of the load cells. GANTAN.
