The deadline for the project rough draft is quickly approaching.

So far I have
done the audience analysis, task analysis, and have had conversations with co-workers about
what information is important to make this project work. I have started to take pictures /
images that I would like to put in my reference book to help demonstrate some of the steps. I
have yet to actually sit down and organize all the information together. I guess I will do my
rough draft on paper (Microsoft word) for the purpose of peer review and after the review I will
correct and edit the paper. Once I get all the information the way I want it I will then put all the
information in the little ring binder (which I have already purchased) to make it easy to carry
around and convenient and turn it in for my final project.

Because of the assignments that have led me up to this point I feel that I have a pretty
good start to finishing my project. I still have to expand on all the tasks that I have already
outlined in my task analysis paper. Then I have to read it and re-read it, because sometimes it
makes more sense when I read it out loud and I catch more mistakes that way. Then I will have
a co-worker (a person that is in my targeted audience group) read through it to make sure
everything makes sense. At that point I will feel that my reference book/user guide is ready for
peer review. I will keep in mind that my group members who happen to read my guide and
come up with suggestions and comments are only trying to help. I also know that what they
write is advice, it does not mean that I have to take offense of what they say and I don’t have to
follow all their advice unless I want to. I am going to try and brush up on my English to help me
both give and receive criticism on these papers. Also I plan on filling the notes for peer
reviewers to help my group members grasp what I am really trying to show in my project. I also
think that this will help me know what to look for in other people’s projects as well. I have to
confess that I am one of those people who are afraid of hurting another’s person feelings when
it comes to providing constructive criticism, so I will try to be honest when I am peer-reviewing.
