Wendy Elberth is Vice President of Administration at Hartford Hospital, the flagship tertiary care
center of Hartford HealthCare, a regional integrated health care network with more than 18,000
employees. Hartford Hospital, established nearly 160 years ago, has more than 7,300 staff members
and more than 1,000 physicians.
Ms. Elberth has served in increasingly responsible leadership positions during her more than 25 years
of service with Hartford Hospital. In her current role, she has provided strategic oversight in the
development and implementation of Hartford Hospitals new Centers of Excellence, including the
Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and the Spine, Joint, Sleep and Surgical Weight Loss centers. In addition,
she has broad operational responsibilities, including oversight for the clinical quality and growth of the
nationally recognized Stroke Center, the Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine Center, and the Diabetes Life
Care Program.
Under Ms. Elberths leadership, Hartford Hospitals Centers of Excellence have earned numerous
national recognitions, including the Blue Distinction and Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification
for spine and joint-replacement surgery, the American Heart Association Gold Plus recognition for stroke
guidelines, and Center of Excellence accreditation for the Surgical Weight Loss Center.
As the director of Hartford Hospitals Postgraduate Administrative Fellowship Program, Ms. Elberth
provides mentorship for the development of leadership competencies for future health care leaders.
Before assuming her current role in 2008, Ms. Elberth served as executive assistant to the CEO of
Hartford Hospital. Earlier in her career, she provided clinical services and leadership in the Department
of Rehabilitation at the Institute of Living, Hartford Hospitals nationally known psychiatric hospital.
Ms. Elberth holds a bachelors degree in occupational therapy from Syracuse University and an
MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare
Executives and the American Occupational Therapy Association. Throughout her career, she has
served on several community boards of directors and currently is a member of the board of the
Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Center.
