NICROBRAZ CEMENT 650
A general-purpose, low-viscosity
braze binder which is environmentally
friendly (no ozone-depleting solvents),
non-toxic and non-flammable!
‘Nicrobraz Cement 650 is a liquid binder which can be
used with a wide varity of powdered filler metals
hhold them in place for brazing. It contains no
hydrocarbon solvents
Nicrobraz. Cement 650 acts as both a vehicle and a
binder. It is mixed with any powdered brazing filler
‘metal to permit easy application by syringe, spray gun.
brush, or eyedropper. It causes the filler metal 10
‘compact which holds it in place, even after the Cement
completely volatiles at approximately 1000°F
(540°C). The binder may be used in a vacuum or high-
purity dry atmospheres without adverse effects
Nicrobraz Cement 650 is satisfactory for vacuum
furnace applications, even though some outgassing
‘occurs. The amount of outgassing will increase with
increases inthe amount of Cement used, the number of
parts in the furnace, and viscosity of the Cement
‘employed. Outgassing can be reduced by air-baking
prior tothe furnace run,
NOTE: Normally, no residue remains after brazing.
However, the presence of copper or silver in the filler
metal may cause “cracking” ofthe Cement and result in
‘small amounts of sooty residue.
Nicrobraz Cement 650 can also be used as a carrer for
Nicrobraz White Stop-Off™ powder. A mixture of the
‘Cement and White Stop-Off may be applied to mating
surfaces to prevent accidental brazing.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
(1) For applications using our NicroSpray® System (see
Nierobraz Form NSG), ora similar spray gua unit the
amount of binder required will be approximately half
‘that required for solvent-based cement. If the binder
feed rates are not reduced, the sprayed coating will be
too wet and may run when applied to non-horizontal
surfaces.
(2) On brazements with a multitude of separate joints
(such as wire mesh), hand-applying the filler metal
becomes an expensive, time-consuming process. In
many such cases, the Cement can be applied by
spraying or dipping. When filler metal powders are
applied by dusting or dipping, they will adhere to
surfaces wetted with the Cement.
3) When dry powder is applied t0 the work, the
‘Cement should be used to soak the filler metal within
the intended brazing joint.
(4) After a mixture of fille metal and Cement has been
applied, a second application of Cement over the
mixture may sometimes be desirable to insure that it
stays in place until brazing is complete.
DRYING
Niceobraz Cement 650 should be dried at 120-175°F
(60-80°C).If drying is to occur at ambient temperature,
‘2 drying time of no less than 30 minutes is
recommended for braze preparations exposed to the
atmosphere. For applications in which the braze is
contained within a constricted area, the drying time
should be extended,
