Plan of Action Assignment

CSI Major: Secondary Education Communication Emphasis

EDUC 290

Indicate University/College (transfer institution): Idaho State University

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is for you to begin to address the graduation
requirements for your major and to address the entrance requirements for your chosen four-year
institution. Please address the questions below. Please type your responses.
1. What courses are you currently taking this semester?
I am taking GEOL 104 (for my 2nd required science class), EDUC 290, COMM 140 and
COMM 102.
2. What courses do you need to graduate with your AA degree? (Please see Lena Paxton to get a copy
of your Degree Audit, if you have problems. Lena is located in the Matrix in the Taylor Administration
Building on the CSI campus; you can also email her at lpaxton@csi.edu.) Otherwise, go to MyCSI

under

your grades option.

I need to take COMM 105, COMM 201 and COMM 220 in order to graduate.
3. Have you applied for CSI graduation? (https://www.csi.edu/forms/students_forms/gradapp/)
Yes I have. I received my e-mail from the Records department that they received my
application on August 12th.
4. What are the entrance requirements for your chosen four-year institution? What are the
application deadlines? If you plan to apply for scholarships, what are the scholarship
application deadlines? Have you applied for financial aid?
The entrance requirements for ISU are to apply to the school, have a GPA of 2.75, no grade
lower than a C and two with grades of B or higher in Engl 101 or 102, Comm 101, and Math.
(I may have to take Math 123, the advisors at CSI with ISU are checking into that for me.) I
also have to complete EDUC 204, 205, 202, and 215 with a C or better. I will have to pass
another FBI background check, and complete the Praxis exam. I will need to submit the
EDUC 202 form which was signed by my field experience cooperating teacher, complete a
video, and an interview.
The application deadline that I am working with is October 1st.
5. Does your chosen four-year institution require Praxis 1 (or other tests)? What scores are
needed? What are the dates for Praxis 1 (or other tests)? Do these tests have to be completed
before the application deadline? If so, how long does it take to process test scores?
Yes, ISU requires the Praxis exam. The scores are Reading 156, Writing 162, and Math 150.
These tests must be successfully completed prior to admission to the program. Scores are
available 10-16 business days after the testing window closes.
