Biscuit joints are designed for use in widening joints. The advantage of a
biscuit joint is that it increases gluing surface area and lines up the faces.

(Maximum 100 words)

It is best practice to sand all components prior to assembly as it may be difficult

to reach components once assembled. It also allows for a more consistent
finish. It is important to raise the grain at this point to avoid a furry texture
when applying the finish.

Application of Finish

Use of spray gun to apply solvent based stain. This involved spraying on the
stain till it was dripping wet and wiping it away immediately. The result was an
relatively even finish.

(Maximum 100 words)

Stain was left to dry for 3 hours before applying water based clear
polyurethane varnish. I was advised not to use solvent based varnish at it has
a tendency to draw out the stain.
