Dear Dr. Koenigs,
I am so excited about applying to USD 253, Emporia school district. I am interested in applying for the
future teaching position. I found this job opening on the USD 235 website, and would love to come work
for your district.
I am currently an intern at William Allen White Elementary, so I already have knowledge of what your
school district looks like. Bulleted below are some items I have already been doing in the classroom in
your district.

I created and organized a flex group of 3-5 students focusing on word study.
Designed an inquiry-based social studies unit where students got into small groups of Native
American Tribes and used sources to explore their tribe, and made models of food, clothing, and
shelter.
Constructed and taught lesson plans for all subject areas independently.
Created math activities, games, and workshop stations to strength 5th graders math skills.

I am interested in your district for many reasons, so I am going to write out a few of the specifics. I enjoy
being in a school full of diversity. Just at William Allen White it has an ethnicity of 48.58% Hispanic,
38.46% White, 9.31% African American, and 9.31% other. It excites me to be surrounded by different
types of people and languages.
Something else I like about your district is it maintains a technology infrastructure to facilitate the
classroom integration of electronic tools for students and staff. This is important to me because at
Emporia State University I went through the IPad 1:1 initiative, so I would love to use the skills of
technology I learned through ESUs program.
I would love to talk to you more about the open future teaching position, and it would be a pleasure to
have an interview with your district.
Cordially,

Crystal Allman
