Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Jim Ivory and I will be student teaching in your son/daughters

classroom during the next 12 weeks. I am excited for the opportunity to work
directly in the classroom and/or provide any support and assistance for your child in
order to have successful and positive learning experiences in the general education
setting.
This student teaching experience is the last step on the way to obtaining my
Cross Categorical Special Education License. I grew up in Eau Claire, WI and
completed my undergrad coursework in Human Geography and Cultural
Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. My coursework for my
teaching license began at Hamline University in Minnesota and culminated at
Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI. My goal upon receiving my license is to teach in
a classroom very similar to this. My passion is working with students who have
Intellectual Disabilities and focusing on life skills to prepare them for life after
school. I have been married for seven years and have a seven year old son in the
first grade. For fun I like to ride my road bike, go hiking, watch or play hockey, and
do anything with my family.
I am really looking forward to meeting your child and getting to know them
this quarter. I will be available during conference time to discuss with you about
how things are going but welcome any questions or conversation about your child at
any time while I am here at your childs school.
Sincerely,
Jim Ivory
