Assessment Task: Individual Research Essay


Assessment description:
Individually research an area of inquiry on The Holocaust
and find two sources that can help you develop an essay
question. Analyse your two sources, one primary and one
secondary. Use these sources to develop a historical inquiry
(question) to form the basis of your essay.
Learning requirements:
Identify and select different kinds of questions about the
past to form historical inquiry. (ACHHS184)
Evaluate and enhance these questions. (ACHHS185)
Identify and locate relevant sources, using ICT and other
methods. (ACHHS186)
Aim to do the following when undertaking this task:
1. Choose an area of The Holocaust to individually
research and find a primary source and a secondary
source.
2. Analyse the sources and develop a historical inquiry
(essay question).

3. Draft out an essay plan with introduction, body and


conclusion paragraphs.
4. Write a concise, coherent essay arguing your stance on
the question.
