My book review For my first book review, I would like to present you two gripping short stories of ‘one of the famous British author of the twentieth century: Arthur Conan Doyle. A few words about the author: Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born on May 22, 1859, in Edinburgh and died on Monday, July -) 7, 1930 in Crowborough. He is famous for his fictional stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes which are generally considered as crime fictions, He is also known for writing the fictional adventures of a second character he invented: the Ml Professor Challenger and for popularising the mystery of Mary Celeste, He was a writer who includes fantasy and science fiction in his numerous works. The adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a collection published in the Strand Magazine in 1892. Among the 60 stories he wrote about Sherlock Holmes, I will suggest you The adventure of the Speckled Bard and The three students. Let me talk about this fascinating short stories. The Adventure of the Speckled Band ‘One morning, Helen Stoner, a young woman who lives with her stepfather the doctor Roylott in Stoke Moran, asks for help to the detective Sherlock Holmes and his associate Dr.Watson, Indeed, Helen Stoner’s twin has died two years go shortly before she wants to get married. Helen remembered that her sister's dying words were“Tt was the band! The speckled band!" Now Helen, who wants to get married, has begun to hear weird noises as her sister before she died, Eventually, the famous detective agrees to take this stunning case, But, what does the “speckled band" mean? He suspects the DrRoylott who his friend with Gypsies’ band and possesses as domestic animals a cheetah and a baboon from his trip to India. Holmes and Dr. Watson spend the night in Helen's room in order to discover the truth. Will Sherlock Holmes solver the murder? TI invite you to read the book so as to know the answer! The three students In this second short story, Mr Soames, a tutor of St Jai 5 Luke's College (located in a famous university town) has a ‘Adventure ff captivating problem for Sherlock Holmes and Dr.Watson. Mr Soames had to check the pages of an Three NTT exam which will take place the next day. After he left his office for a few hours, he discovered that someone has touched to the exam papers. Mr Soames asks for the help of Sherlock Holmes to discover who the cheater is and to prevent him from taking the exam. Otherwise, the university will lose his prestige. But, three students who will take the exam live in the building. The first is Gilchrist, a great athlete and a fine scholar, the second is the Indian Daulas Ras who is well up in his work but the Greek is his weak subject and the last one is Miles McLaren who is wayward and dissipated. Who is the culprit? As the quote highlights “it's the quiet ‘one you have to watch". Sherlock Holmes will attempt to distinguish between the true and the false. ) its ne alae a You should read one (or the twol) of these stories for many reasons: 1. Firstly, Arthur Conan's stories are always made with a lot of action and the suspense is maintained all the long of the plot: you will never bore! 2. Also, generally, Arthur Conan Doyle's short-story is no more than about twenty pages in length and so enjoyable to read: it is addressed to all of you! 3. Arthur Conan Doyle is one of the most famous authors of the British literature: you: this is the opportunity to increase your culture and to discover the cultural wealth of the UK. 4. Moreover, these two short stories have let me to enrich my vocabulary. My opinion about The Adventure of the Speckled Band and The three students -To my mind, his two stories’ are well-constructed and push you to being in Sherlock Holmes's place: when you read them, you are as the detective who needs to clear up an investigation. -For my part, I prefer the adventure of the Speckled Band. Actually, what I find most interesting is the idea than “the speckled band" is unknown to the reader until the last page and it is awfully captivating. -I find the character of Sherlock Holmes fascinating because he is really mysterious and perspicacious. Arthur Conan Doyle has created a complex character.
