The Faculty of Biology and Soil

Science
The Faculty of Biology and Soil Science was founded in 1946, at the same
time as the Moldova State University. Its foundation is connected to the
names of the famous scientists academician N. Dimo and professors V.
Andreev and I. Vul.

For many years, the faculty has trained over 5 700 of young specialists,
including many foreigners.

The Faculty of Biology and Soil Science trains professionals in natural


sciences, who will efficiently contribute to solving problems of utmost
importance in this branch. The training process is fulfilled according to
international standards. The internships have an important role in the
educational process in all specializations; and, they take place in the most
picturesque regions of the country and abroad. One of the priorities of the
Faculty of Biology and Soil Science is student involvement in research. In the
framework of study programs the core and optional theoretical courses are
given to allow students put research into practice at Research Centre Life
Sciences.

A real treasure of the faculty is the Museum of Natural Sciences that consists
of Geology, Soil Science, Botany and Zoology divisions with the impressive
number of samples from all over the world.

The graduates have the possibility to get employed in different fields of the
national economy, e.g. in the subdivisions of the Ministry of Environment,
research institutions of the ASM, production units in natural sciences, and as
biology and geography teachers in secondary and higher educational
institutions.

The mission of the Faculty of Biology and Soil Science consists of training
highly qualified specialists for pre-university and university education,
research, science, culture, social-economic activities, as well as continuing
education coordination of the graduates and specialists in the domain,
development of the prestigious scientific-didactic school.
