Description
For this project, the team was asked to design a small planting bed
outside of the new wing of a residence in central Pennsylvania. The
plot will be visible from the window of the new nursery, so the Mr.
Westing was looking for a colorful and highly textured planting.
Originally, Westing had asked for plants that favored sunny
environments, but the back of the house was shaded by two
massive chestnut trees, a species that have long been on the
decline, and he was reluctant to cut down the trees. The team was
able to adapt to the situation and pick a palette of plants that were
similar in nature to the plants originally specied, but that were
more shade tolerant.
