‘Thank you for your application through the State Boards appointments process to be a member of the
Open Data Governance Board.
| | am pleased to formally advise that following an assessment process by a panel put in place by the
| Public Appointments Service, | now propose to appoint you as a member to the Board, The post will
| be for a minimum of two years with the possibility of reappointment for a further term. | understand
‘that my officials have been in contact with you; and that you have confirmed your willingness to accept
the post.
| am also pleased to advise that | have appointed Ms. Emer Coleman as Chair to the Board, Indeed
the proposed membership encompassing academia/research, established Irish business, start-
ups/SMEs, international business, NGO/Civil society, legal, cultural and technical skills means the
Board will have an excellent mix of skills and expertise
The Board is being established to provide strategic leadership and governance in line with best
international practice in the area of Open Data, to consider how to improve the capacity and capability
of public bodies in implementing Open Data, and to consider opportunities to maximise the value of
public sector data and information for long-term economic, social and democratic benefits and to
make recommendations to Government in this regard. | attach a copy of the Board’s mandate in this
regard and look forward to your support in driving the implementation of this Initiative and hearing
of progress made in this very important area.
| am mindful of the fact that this appointment is in the public interest and wish to thank you most
