Wireless instructions for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)

STEP 1:

Please insert your wireless card into your laptop. [If the wireless card is built into your laptop pleases make sure
the wireless adaptor switch is turned to the ON position]

STEP 2:

Option 1: Click the Start button, select Connect To, and then Wireless Connection. This
will bring up the Wireless Network Connection
Status dialog box.

OR
Option 2: Click the Start button, select Control
Panel, select Network and Internet Connection, and then Network Connections. Click on
the Wireless Network Connection Icon. This
will bring up the Wireless Network Connection
Status dialog box.
STEP 3:

Click the Change advanced settings button if the Wireless


Network Connection window is displayed (as shown) or Click
the Properties button if the Wireless Network Connection
Status window is displayed.

STEP 4:

(a) Select the Wireless Networks Tab


(b) Make sure the Use windows to configure my wireless network
settings checkbox is checked .
(c) Click the Add button to display the Wireless network properties
STEP 5:
(a) Enter UTORwin for Network
Name (SSID) [Note the SSID is
case sensitive]
(b) Remove the checkmark from the

(d) Set the Network Authentication to
Open and Data encryption to
WEP
(e) Click on OK button to complete

STEP 6:

The UTORwin profile should be listed under the Preferred networks on your Wireless Network Connection
Properties window. Click on the OK button to return to the Wireless Network Connection Status dialog box.
Click on the Close button. You have now successfully completed the wireless network configuration.
To log onto the UTORwin wireless network, start your web browser (Netscape, IE). The UTORwin login page
should automatically appear when your browser starts up (if this does not happen, please contact the IC helpdesk
for assistance) . Your will need your UTORid and email password or your library number and UTORdial
password to log onto the network.
