Description
The Prince George Ski Club is inviting applications for Program Director / Head
Coach for the 2015-16 season.
Based in Prince George, the Prince George Ski Club is a small but well
established U8 to FIS level ski club in North Central BC, with a history of
producing successful racers supported by a dedicated base of volunteers.
Prince George was the host community of the 2015 Canada Winter Games
which has resulted in significant equipment and facility legacies for our club
and include a first class training and race centre at Purden Mountain and a
world class snow cross track at Tabor Mountain.
The ideal candidate will be a passionate and creative individual who is
prepared to help our club take advantage of the Canada Games Legacies and
take alpine and ski cross racing to the next level. The successful individual
will be a collaborative leader with a desire to creating environments that
promote skill and athletic development in exciting, fun, and productive
settings. The candidate shall have a demonstrated passion and ability to
bringing the best in athletes. Strong organizational and communication skills
and a willingness to assist with the business side of club operations are also
required.
On-snow training for the club takes place primarily at Purden Mountain. Other
training centres include Tabor Mountain; Troll, located outside Quesnel; and
Powder King, approximately two hours north of Prince George. From January
to March night training is available inside the city limits at the Hart Highlands
Winter Club.
The successful applicant will be expected to work full-time from November to
mid-April, with the opportunity to start in early October. The ski club pays a
competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Relocation
allowance, personal use of club vehicles, assistance with acquiring a Class 4
license and assistance with professional dues are negotiable.
Job specifics:
The successful candidate will report to the Club President of the PGSC.
Responsibilities include:
preparing a season plan for Alpine Program athletes, including a
schedule of races and on and off snow training;
coordinating other club alpine coaches and providing oversight and
guidance to our Entry Level/Nancy Greene Ski League Head Coach
implementing an early season dryland training program appropriate to
the age, skill, and development stage of athletes, according to NCCP
and AIM2WIN guidelines;
Qualifications:
preference is for a CSCF Performance Level Certified individual but
consideration will be made for applicants who are CSCF Development
Level Certified with demonstrated progress towards Performance Level
trained;
Class 4 drivers license;
NCCP Competitive Development A & B are desirable (or equivalent);
applicants with personal ski racing experience at a FIS level or higher
are preferred.
