Day 1
1. Big Buddha - Once you arrive at the Tung Chung station you have two options
to reach the Big Buddha. You can either pay $125 HKD for a round trip
gondola ride up to the top, which would be fun on a clear day, but it was
especially foggy while we were in Hong Kong. Being budget travelers we
opted to pay $17.20 HKD ($2.20 USD) and took the bus. The bus wasnt
boring. It was 30-40 minutes taking switchbacks up and down a mountain,
while our driver drove much faster than I would ever drive on the tiny roads.
It didnt help that I am still not used to cars driving on the left side of the road
so around every turn we felt as if we were going head first into them.
2. Man Mo temple
3. Madam Tussauds/ Victoria Peak/ Peak Tram
4. From the Central MTR station: take exit J or K and follow the signs to the Peak Lower Terminus.
Garden Road runs between the Bank of China tower (the spiky one) and the Cheung Kong
Building (the boxy one), you can use these two buildings as landmarks to guide you. (See
our Hong Kong Skyline Landmarks Guide here) The Peak Lower Terminus will be on the left
side.
5. From the Admiralty MTR station: take exit C1 and take the walkway across the Queensway
Government Offices and Pacific Place Shopping Centre, following signs to Hong Kong Park,
cross the park and follow signs to the Peak Tram Lower Terminus.
