Lesson Plan
Lesson: Rome City Planning
Objectives: SWBAT develop Romes city by building a model city on paper
with a group with instructions given by the teacher and using the prior
knowledge to complete a summative assessment.
Materials Needed: list of necessities for the city, big cut of paper, colored
writing utensils, paper with instructions and end of day questions.
Outline of Day:
1. complete warmup,
2. review how day is going to work, group the students at the tables.
3. Give the materials to the students.
4. List out instructions for city planning.
5. Let them struggle.
6. Once instructions have finished, groups will be able to edit the city
to plan accordingly.
7. Wrap up will be the summative assessment where students present
what they have so far and then answer the exit ticket question.
Activity/Assignment: Students will be placed into groups will build their own
version of Rome. They will need to include the aqueducts, zoo, coliseum,
roads, markets, hospital, and castle. Time and spacing will be an issue.
CFU/Assessment: The large summative assessment will come in the form of
presenting the city planning the next class. But the CFU will be by walking
around during the instructions to look at the progress, and the summative
assessment will be when the students present at the end of class, and then
answering the question at the end of class.
Notes: Students skills will come into play at different points during the
lesson, make sure to pass out the days activities to the class.
