Bean Bag Twister

Description :
A social-cognitive group for people with Alzheimers, the group will be focusing on
involving the clients to recognize color, increase upper extremities mobility,
improve social skills.
Structure:
The group will meet once a week for 30 minutes. Group members in each section
take turn to spin the needle to choose a color, and throw a bean bag to that
corresponding color.
Goal:
Through participation in this group, members will learn to
1. Recognize color.
2. Socialize with staff and other members of the group.
3. Improve upper extremities strength.
Patient requirement:
People with Alzheimers disease.
Able to understand verbal instruction.
Have functional hand and forearm movement.
Able to tolerate a group environment of 10 people.
Methodology:
The group will start with an introduction.
Members will take turn to spin the needle to choose the color.
Members will throw the bean bag to the corresponding colors.
Staff will use verbally encourage members after they throw the bean bag.
Role of the leader
Introduce the task;
Providing help when clients are in need
Monitor the clients emotions and tolerance level

If different alters appear, establish rapport with every alters.
