Objective
The students will play with a relaxed body posture along
with good instrument carriage. They will also exhibit correct
embouchure and play with correct articulation.

Activity
Greet the class as they set up for class
Have the metronome at Quarter=60 ready and tuner on the
Elmo Cam
Have the students take out their mouthpiece, reeds and
book
Breathing/Counting
o Shoulder should not rise but lower as they are inhaling.

o They should be breathing in from the corners of their


mouth.
Walk around consistently checking each student
o Have the students breath in for 4 counts
Have them tune on their phone or the tuner on the
projector
Release for 4-8-12-16-20
Play G# on mouthpiece
Repeat as a group for 3xs
o Have each student play G# on the mouthpiece in tune.
Play 4 quarter notes in time with the metronome.
Correct articulation and tongue placement will be
evaluated
o If they play correctly:
They get to assemble their instrument
o If they play incorrectly:
They stay on mouthpiece and barrel for the
remainder of the class.

Assessment
o The students will be assessed on how well they execute
notes, execute clean tongue starts and take breathes at
the time indicated on the music. A passing grade will be
given to students who execute 80% of the etude with
correct notes, articulation and correct placement of
breaths. Chair tests will be administered using the
same line.
