Permission to Search

Since all students traveling to London and Paris (June 2015) are Mercy girls, even those who will have
recently graduated, all school rules apply. Please check the following pages in your daughters student
handbook:
Page 27 ---------------------- concerns off campus conduct
Page 30 ---------------------- smoking
Page 48 ---------------------- drugs and alcohol, medication and searches
Page 52 -----------------------states that when you have signed your daughters planner, you agree to abide
by all rules listed, including the above.
The handbook declares that we have the right to search school property belonging to your daughter (ex:
locker, bags, etc). It, however, does not mention suitcases or hotel rooms.
We would like to cover all of our bases before we leave. If there happens to be a cause - probable cause for us to suspect that your daughter has illegal substances; drugs; including those not in properly labeled
bottles, or alcohol, we want the right to search her property to make an informed decision about her
condition.
We dont plan on going through everyones personal belongings, but if your daughter is acting out of the
ordinary, and it makes us acutely concerned, then we want to be able to determine if it is due to illegal
substances or other health concerns. Our main priority is the safety and well-being of your daughter.
To do this we need your authorization. Please sign and date below. We appreciate your cooperation in this
serious matter. This will not be taken lightly. We plan on having an amazing time and dont want to have
to deal with this issue. Thanks again for your cooperation.
