Russell Hicks Vanguard Program

The Vanguard program is designed to build support for iOS, OS X, and app
usage within the classroom. Aspiring Members go through at least 24 hours
of training to then be able to implement effectively in their own classroom,
as well as support other teachers and staff in technology integration. Logs
will be kept by each individual and then submitted to Kevin Tressler for final
submission to Apple for recognition.
Certain individuals will then have the opportunity to further their level of
support by becoming Vanguard Coaches. Vanguard Coaches become
masters of individual apps or programs and provide in-house support for that
particular app. The ultimate goal is to have a large support base that is
capable to effectively support teachers and staff on all levels.
All will be expected to plan individually and collaboratively, as well as create
products as evidence of specific training completion. A total of 40 hours will
be dedicated to the program.

Plan
The following workshops and courses will be offered to fulfill the 24 hours of
training necessary for recognition as a Vanguard Member:
Training hours:
iOS 8 Becoming a Power User for Learning and Teaching - 3 hours
iOS 8 Enhancing Personal Productivity and Collaboration - 3 hours
iLife - 6 hours
iWork - 6 hours
iTunes U - 6 hours
Planning hours:
Individual planning time for implementation - 5 hours
Collaborative planning time for cross-curricular implementation and
connections - 5 hours
Product completion hours:
iLife product - 2 hours
iWork product - 2 hours
iTunes U Course - 2 hours

Expectations
It is the expectation that all involved will complete a documented amount of
training, planning, and productivity. Sign-in sheets will be required at each
training, and if training is missed, a make-up session will be required as
scheduled with Kevin Tressler.
Planning hours will be documented and turned in to Kevin Tressler after each
individual and/or collaborative time. These will be kept digitally and with a
hard copy.
An iLife and an iWork-based product will be required to be turned in
electronically to show proficiency within the applications. The iTunes U
course code will need to be provided for enrollment for verification of
completion.
