Education is
I believe that
Students should have the opportunity to collaborate and work together
with their peers.
Students must learn how to work in a team setting and increase their
social awareness.
Students deserve to receive second and third chances. Each child must
learn that failure is an opportunity to grow and do better next time.
Students should be challenged in all they do: socially, emotionally and
academically.
Learning should be hands on. Direct instruction should only be a small
part of learning.
Learning should include one-on-one and small group time.
Learning should be inter-disciplinary where students are able to see
how subjects fit and come together.
Learning can only happen when there is an authentic relationship
made between the teacher and learner. There must be ample time at
the beginning of the school year for a relationship of respect and care
to be born.
Learning should be relevant. Students should understand how the
knowledge they are learning relates to their life outside of school and
their future.
The classroom must be consistent and structured. With structure and
consistency students learn how to be independent learners.
The classroom must be overwhelmingly positive. Effective
management should consist of positive reinforcement; always focusing
on what students do well.
The classroom should be a place of motivation and inspiration. All
students who walk through the doors of the classroom should be
motivated and inspired to learn.
Teachers must be reflective, adaptive and ever-changing, growing and
improving their teaching practice.
Teachers must understand they are part of a team. The educational
team consists of teachers, students, parents, administrators and the
community.
Teachers should strive to be someone students look up to in all areas
of life.

demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.

Teachers should hold high, yet realistic, expectations for all students.
The teacher and students should work together to strive and reach the
goals.
