OralGlucoseToleranceTest(OGTT)
Anoralglucosetolerancetestinvolvestakingafirsttakingafastingsampleof
bloodandthentakingaverysweetdrinkcontaining75gofglucose.
Afterhavingthisdrinkyouneedtostayatrestuntilafurtherbloodsampleis
takenafter2hours.

HbA1ctestfordiabetesdiagnosis
AnHbA1ctestdoesnotdirectlymeasurethelevelofbloodglucose,however,the
resultofthetestisinfluencedbyhowhighorlowyourbloodglucoselevelshavetendedtobeoveraperiodof2to3months.
Indicationsofdiabetesorprediabetesaregivenunderthefollowingconditions:
Normal:Below42mmol/mol(6.0%)
Prediabetes:42to47mmol/mol(6.0to6.4%)
Diabetes:48mmol/mol(6.5%orover)
