Reaction Paper on Parliamentary VS Presidential Government

My stand on this is that I would rather prefer the parliamentary system of

government. Mainly because of the main advantage that is to have a consistent
leader and administration. For me, the problem with the presidential system of
government which our country is adapting is that every six years we change our
president. That is the main disadvantage because when there is a new president,
there is going to be a new administration. Often, what happens is that the president
assigns and delegate new people especially if that current positions are occupied by
a member of the opposition. Another is that how can anyone expect a president to
do drastic changes in our country within a six-year term. That short span of time is
not enough to change and totally transform our country. In addition to that is the
fact that the plans of the new president sometimes do not conform to that of the
previous president.

Therefore, I would rather push for charter change and adapt a parliamentary system
of government. I believe that the government should have the power to enact laws
quickly. Let us simply put it this way, in a parliamentary system, the prime minister
is almost always from the political party that controls the legislature, so there is less
discord, and it is easier for that party to accomplish its goals.
