The passage is related to Novaks reflective judgment in a way that the

passage is just a pre-requisite to a reflective judgement. Cristoff claims that Truman
likes it in his cell. This is however just a claim, an insight. An insight is a
prerequisite for a reflective judgement. One cannot have a reflective judgement
without first having an insight. But this insight of Cristoff was proven to be wrong,
Truman wanted to leave his cell. During the course of the movie, Truman have had
numerous moments wherein he felt that something strange was happening. He first
saw a spotlight falling from the sky, the moments when his wife acted as if shes in
a commercial, when his cars radio signal was jammed and then suddenly he heard
voices that made him think that he is being followed etc. This triggered his desire to
find out whats going on around him, then Truman finally did found out what is really
happening. The passage sounds like, for me, that Cristoff assumed, and this should
not be done when someone is having a reflective judgement, presumptions should
be avoided, because evidences shoud be based on facts.

A line in the movie states that you see that world as it is presented to you.
This is a one of the many challenges in life. It makes us just think that everything
that is presented to us is real. This should not be, we should see the world based
upon your approach and based on how you see it. The lines by Cristoof I think
what really distresses you caller is that Truman prefers his cell for me means that,
sometimes we just accept what is given to us, we just accept what majority thinks,
we just accept the thinks we are used of doing even if its not right. You should learn
to break the norms and explore and find out the truth. We should not stay as
prisoners in our own cells.
