New
PR/Marketing
Communication
major
offered
at
Simmons
College
BOSTONSimmons
College
has
recently
launched
their
new
joint
major
for
the
School
of
Management
and
the
Communications
department.
The
new
PR/Marketing
Communication
major
allows
students
interested
in
both
the
Public
Relations
major
in
the
Communications
department
and
the
Marketing
major
in
the
School
of
Management
to
have
one
major
that
incorporates
both.
We
wanted
to
give
students
the
opportunity
to
major
in
something
that
incorporates
both
Public
Relations
and
Marketing
rather
than
requiring
them
to
double
major
in
these
two
subjects.
This
new
major
will
expose
students
to
both
communications
and
management
courses
while
teaching
them
how
the
two
fields
can
be
related,
said
Andrew
Porter,
Lecturer
in
Communications
at
Simmons
College.

For
juniors
and
seniors
at
Simmons
College
it
will
be
hard
for
them
to
switch
over
to
the
new
major
without
falling
short
of
the
requirements
before
graduation.
However,
the
new
major
is
suggested
to
freshman,
sophomores,
and
all
incoming
students
interested
in
Public
Relations
and
Marketing.
Professors
at
Simmons
College
are
urging
students
to
look
into
this
new
major
so
that
students
can
learn
about
how
the
two
subjects
are
related
to
one
another.
Students
who
choose
to
major
in
PR/Marketing
Communication
will
graduate
with
a
Bachelor
of
Art
degree.
The
professors
in
the
Communications
Department
are
excited
to
begin
working
with
the
professors
in
the
School
of
Management
to
provide
our
students
with
a
better
understanding
of
how
Public
Relations
and
Marketing
go
hand
in
hand,
said
Judy
Richland,
Lecturer
in
Communications
at
Simmons
College.
