EXPERIMENT # 01

14-ME-019

Apparatus Description
CAM & Follower:
The Cam Follower is a compact bearing with a highrigidity shaft and a built-in needle bearing. Most suitable as a guide
roller for cam mechanisms and linear motion of automated machines
and dedicated machines.

Gear Demonstration:
An excellent robust working model. The model clearly
shows how various, most widely used Gears Work and also
demonstrates how Electrical Energy can be converted into
mechanical energy. The unit consists of a mounted motor which is
connected by a belt and pulley to a train of different kinds of Gears.
The various kinds of gears demonstrated are, Straight Bevel Gears,
Worm Gears and Spur Gears.

Rotational inertia of moment:

Moment of Inertia is a measure of an object's
resistance to changes in a rotation direction. Moment of Inertia has
the same relationship to angular acceleration as mass has to linear
acceleration.

Rolling disk on inclined plane:

Bench-top, to determine the moment of inertia of a
wheel and axle unit. Bed rails with adjustable slope by elevating
screws. Starting posts and end ramps and two wheel and axle units.
Rolling oscillation apparatus is part of the system.

Extension Spring:
Wall mounted, for experiments on tension of spring
and Hooks Law. Vernier 0.1mm, adjustable scales, set of 5 tension
springs, springs, load hanger, weights set.

Extension Spring:
A spring which is designed to operate with tensile
load so that the spring will extend (increase in length) upon
application of load.

Polygon of Forces:
A polygonal figure the sides of which are vectors
representing several forces acting simultaneously upon one point, so
that the vector necessary to make the figure closed is the resultant
of those forces.

Compression Spring:
Wall mounted, for experiments on compression of
spring. Vernier 0.1mm, adjustable scales, set of 5 compression
springs, conical compression springs, load hanger, weights set.

Polygon of Forces:
Consisting of wooden board (75 x 70 cm), provided
with two wall brackets and four adjustable frictionless aluminum
pulleys, complete with four one kilogram weights and one scale Pan.

Inclined Plane:
For determination of the coefficient of kinematic &
static friction, mechanical advantage & efficiency of an inclined
plane etc.

Toggle Joint:
This apparatus is designed to evaluate forces within a
toggle mechanism. Load is applied to the two pairs of links by a
hanger suspended from their connecting pivot. One end of the links
is pivoted to a base, and the other end is able to move sideways on
low friction ball bearing wheels. The angle of toggle can be varied.

Simple Supported Beam:

A beam is a structural element that is capable of
withstanding load primarily by resisting bending. The bending force
induced into the material of the beam as a result of the external
loads, own weight, span and external reactions to these loads is
called a bending moment.

Centrifugal Force:

EXPERIMENT # 01

14-ME-019

For demonstration of the relationship between

centrifugal force, rotating mass and its distance from the axis of
rotation. It consists of drive motor, frame for rotating arm, masses,
and instruments for measurement of centrifugal force and speed.
Digital display of force and speed. A transparent guard. 20V, 50Hz,
1ph.

Two Arm Lever:

Bench-to, to determine the center of gravity of
uniform thickness bodies. A board with a pin for hanging specimens.
Six different bodies of uniform thickness.

Proell Governors:
Compact, bench top apparatus to demonstrate the
principle of operation of various centrifugal force governors. A motor
driven vertical shaft has a chuck mounting which allows the easy
attachment of the three governor mechanisms supplied. The shaft is
speed controlled and the speed displayed on the front panel.
